Today (12 May), we received some heartfelt feedback from a family who has been supported by our Dementia Safeguarding Scheme 🫶🏼
“I would like to thank you for the support we have received, from our initial discussions with your teams through to the point where we no longer need your valuable assistance. The confidence we felt, knowing that you would be there for Dad, and for us should he ever lose his way, was indispensable. You will always have our gratitude.”
The scheme provides a vital layer of support for people living with dementia and their families. Individuals are offered a latex‑free wearable wristband equipped with NFC (Near Field Communication) technology.
If the wearer becomes lost or disorientated, anyone can assist simply by scanning the wristband with an NFC‑enabled smartphone. This allows key information to be accessed quickly, helping to reunite the individual with their loved ones safely and efficiently.
In addition, the Force securely stores a completed Herbert Protocol form and a recent photograph within its systems. In the event that a person is reported missing, this ensures officers have immediate access to vital information, giving searches a crucial head start during the earliest and most critical stages.
The Dementia Safeguarding Scheme continues to demonstrate the power of partnership, preparedness and compassion in keeping vulnerable members of our community safe.
